ProfileBakery is a Swiss all-rounder: one tool for AI headshots, application and CV photos, LinkedIn pictures, team photos and dating photos, sold as one-time packages from $24.90 with a free preview before you pay. TrueLook does only dating photos, from 4 selfies, with your face kept exactly as it is, and is also a one-time purchase: $29 or $49, with no subscription. Since both charge once, the real differences are price per photo, control and focus: ProfileBakery delivers a fixed batch, while TrueLook makes photos one by one in the dating styles you pick. If you want a career headshot and a few dating pictures from one cheap purchase, ProfileBakery is the more flexible buy; if a convincing Tinder, Hinge or Bumble profile is the goal, TrueLook is the specialist.
This page covers how ProfileBakery works, its packages and the extras bundled into them, its refund and privacy terms, what reviewers report, and where each product is the better fit. Every fact about ProfileBakery comes from its own website or Trustpilot, checked on 2 November 2026 and listed under Sources.
What ProfileBakery is
ProfileBakery's imprint names the operator as Mamendo GmbH in Zürich, Switzerland, and describes it as a small company that tries to answer emails within 24 to 48 hours. Its About page introduces a founder and a five-person team, and claims "over 8 years of studio know-how" combined with AI.
The product range is wide. ProfileBakery's homepage, titled "AI Headshots, Team & Dating Photos", lists services for AI headshots, dating photos, application photos, profile pictures, portraits, Instagram photos, product photography and team photos, plus industry pages for actors, models, executives, teachers, doctors and lawyers. Its footer adds free career tools such as an ATS résumé checker, a cover-letter generator and a resignation-letter template, plus face swap, background change and virtual try-on tools. There is also an optional makeup and style analysis sold inside the app.
Its main selling points, in its own words, are headshots "without the plastic look", photos in under 15 minutes, a free preview in about 2 minutes with no signup, and "EU hosting in Germany", with photos not used to train AI.
How it works
- Try the free preview. Upload a photo and get a first look in about 2 minutes, without creating an account.
- Upload your selfies. The pricing FAQ asks for at least 8 to 20 good-quality images with varied angles and expressions, and no sunglasses, heavy filters or group shots. The dating page says "a few clear, well-lit selfies are enough", taken by webcam or phone.
- Pick a package and styles. Packages differ in image count, clothing variants and backgrounds.
- Receive the batch and edit. An in-app editor lets you change clothing, makeup, hair and figure, and improve image quality.
ProfileBakery for dating
Unlike most headshot-first tools, ProfileBakery has put real thought into dating. Its AI dating photos page offers "natural looks for Tinder, Bumble & Hinge", a free dating profile analysis with a score and action plan from your current photos, and styles such as smile, evening, beach and café. It lets you choose between two training variants: a portrait variant for a close-up lead photo, and a "more body" variant for half- and full-body shots. The page's own advice is sensible: make photo one bright, sharp and solo, mix portrait, full-body and hobby shots, avoid heavy beauty filters, and use photos that match how you look now.
So the honest summary is not "ProfileBakery ignores dating". It is that dating is one of many services sharing the same engine, packages and extras, most of which are built around careers.
ProfileBakery pricing in detail
At the time of writing (Nov 2026), ProfileBakery's pricing page lists three one-time packages. Each card shows a price per image and a set of "extras included", with a combined value marked "Only this month".
| Package | Price (one-time) | Images | Clothing variants | Backgrounds | Price per image (their figure) | Main extras |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AI Mini | $24.90 | 30 | 6 | 5 | $0.83 | Image editing tool, CV template, career prompts, resignation template (listed value $21.60) |
| AI Regular | $29.90 | 60 | 12 | 20 | $0.50 | Exclusive premium styles; the Mini extras plus cover-letter generator, LinkedIn backgrounds, LinkedIn analysis (listed value $39.30) |
| AI Pro | $49.90 | 120 | All | All | $0.42 | Priority generation, professional retouching, premium styles, highest resolution; adds application assistant, résumé check, job-search board (listed value $54.00) |
A few observations:
- The middle tier is the value pick. The Regular card advertises "2× images for +$5": twice the Mini's images for $5 more, which brings the price to about $0.50 an image.
- Most extras are career tools. CV and cover-letter templates, LinkedIn analysis and a job-search board are useful if you are job hunting, and irrelevant if you only want dating photos. The image editor is the extra that matters for everyone.
- There is no subscription. You pay once per package.
- Stated delivery varies by page. The package cards say "Ready in 5–15 minutes", the homepage says under 15 minutes, the dating page says under 30 minutes, and the pricing FAQ says 1 to 2 hours. Plan for the longer figure.
- The dating page quotes "30 photos from $24" and "from $0.50 per photo", which match the Mini and Regular packages.

Refunds and redos
This is where ProfileBakery differs most from many competitors. Its refund policy says refunds are available only if you cancel before production starts; "once production has started, we cannot offer refunds". If the result is faulty (blurry, poorly lit or wrongly rendered because of a technical problem on its side) or significantly different from the sample shown when ordering, it offers a free re-production. If you are simply not fully satisfied, it offers one free second run. Requests must be made within 7 days of receiving the product, are processed within 14 business days, and refunds for personal preference are excluded. The dating page describes the same promise as a "satisfaction guarantee": a free second round for the same person.
In practice, that means the free preview is your main protection. Use it to judge likeness before paying, because after generation the remedy is a redo, not your money back.
Output and realism
ProfileBakery's examples range from studio headshots in business attire to more casual portraits, and its dating page shows lifestyle-style samples. The pricing FAQ says photos are "studio-level" and that in an internal test 90% of participants could not tell real from AI. That is the company's own unpublished test, so treat it as a claim rather than evidence. The homepage also shows its own close-ups under "natural skin texture", a sign that it is aware of the over-smoothed look AI portraits are often criticised for.
The two-variant system is genuinely useful for dating, because a profile needs both a close-up and a full-length photo. The question is how far a multipurpose engine, tuned first for application photos and headshots, stretches into candid dating scenes. Reviews (below) suggest likeness is the main risk.
What dating photos have to do that headshots do not
Photofeeler's 2026 analysis of how expressions affect first impressions, The Science of Smiling in Photos, found that in men's dating photos an open-mouth smile, compared with no smile, raised perceived trustworthiness by 2.55 points on a 10-point scale, the largest effect it reported, while attractiveness rose by less than half a point. It also found that 54% of men's dating test photos showed no smile, against 34% of business photos. Photofeeler notes the data is correlational. Still, the pattern is clear: what wins on dating apps is warmth, and many headshot styles default to a composed, closed expression.
Bumble's advice points the same way. Its guide, 10 Ways Your Photos Can Help You Get Better Matches, says profiles with 4 or more photos receive the most matches, recommends using all six slots, and suggests smiling, showing yourself doing what you are passionate about and keeping photos recent and high quality. That is a set of different photos, not 30 variations of one.
Face verification and the likeness bar
Dating apps now check that your photos are of the real you. Tinder's Face Check compares a live video selfie with your profile photos to see whether you appear to be the same person, rolling out in phases where local rules allow. Hinge's Selfie Verification needs a crisp, unfiltered, front-facing photo, and changing photos afterwards may cost you the badge. Bumble's guidelines ask for at least one photo that shows only you with your full face visible, and rule out photos so heavily altered that it cannot be clearly determined you are the person shown.
Neither ProfileBakery nor TrueLook can promise an app's decision. Both are better or worse at this only to the extent that their photos look like you. Read our guide to AI photos and dating-app rules for the details by app.
Privacy and data
ProfileBakery's privacy policy is written to GDPR and Swiss standards. Paraphrasing the policy page:
- No training. Images are used only to fulfil your order and are "not for training AI models".
- Where data goes. The database and data storage are with Supabase in Frankfurt (EU). AI image processing is done by Cloudflare/Replicate in the USA, hosting by Vercel (USA), payments by Stripe (USA) and email by a US provider. Transfers rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses. So "EU hosting in Germany" describes storage; the AI processing itself happens in the US.
- Free demo. Demo photos may be processed in the US, including on Google Cloud and AWS data centres, under your explicit consent, and are generally deleted after 48 hours.
- Retention. Generated images for private customers are deleted automatically after 30 days ("subject to change"); images you select are stored until you delete them; payment records are kept for 10 years for tax reasons; logs for 90 days. The dating page adds that uploads are deleted after 7 days, or sooner on request.
- Marketing. If you enter your email but do not buy, the policy says you may get one follow-up email with a personalised offer. Analytics and advertising cookies run only with consent.
That is a clear and fairly strong policy. The one point worth knowing is the split between EU storage and US processing, which matters if you chose ProfileBakery specifically for EU data residency.
TrueLook never uses your selfies or generated photos to train, fine-tune or evaluate any AI model, never shares them with other users or advertisers, and lets you delete any photo from your dashboard at any time.
What users say about ProfileBakery
On 2 November 2026, ProfileBakery's Trustpilot page showed a TrustScore of 3.2 out of 5 from 136 reviews, with a polarised split: 48% five-star, 7% four-star, 3% three-star, 7% two-star and 35% one-star. Twenty reviews had arrived in the previous 12 months, the most recent dated 4 June 2026. Trustpilot showed that the company replied to about half of negative reviews, typically after more than a month, and noted that it had not recently invited customers to review. ProfileBakery's homepage displays a 4.8/5 rating without naming the platform; we could not match it to a public source.
- Positive themes: quick, simple uploads, fast results, savings compared with a photoshoot, a good range of styles and finding a few photos good enough for LinkedIn.
- Negative themes: results that did not resemble the reviewer, an overly perfect or unnatural look, stereotyped styling defaults, difficulty getting redos or refunds, support that felt automated, and billing complaints.
With only 136 reviews, the sample is small, and Trustpilot itself warns reviews may not be representative. The negative reviews line up with the refund policy: once a batch is made, unhappy customers get a redo rather than a refund, and some reviewers clearly expected otherwise.

Where ProfileBakery is better
- A free preview. You can judge likeness before paying anything. TrueLook has no free trial.
- Breadth. One purchase can cover a CV photo, a LinkedIn headshot and some dating pictures, plus job-hunting templates.
- More images for about $30. Regular gives 60 images for $29.90 ($0.50 each), twice what TrueLook's $29 Fix Pack gives. Only TrueLook's Pro Pack, at $0.35, is cheaper per image.
- In-app editing. Changing clothes, hair or makeup after generation is a handy extra.
- Business features. Team photos, a data processing agreement and an EU/Swiss processing option for companies.
- A free dating profile analysis. Useful feedback even if you never buy.
Where TrueLook is better
- Focus. Every style is built for a dating profile; you pay for nothing aimed at job applications.
- Likeness first. HyperReal™ keeps you, you: your face stays exactly the same, and only the place, outfit and light change.
- A refund route after you have tried it. TrueLook's 14-day refund applies under its stated conditions; ProfileBakery's refunds stop once production starts.
- Control, one photo at a time. You pick the style for each photo and get it in about a minute, instead of receiving one fixed batch, so you can steer the set as you go.
- Lowest price per photo on Pro. $49 once for up to 140 photos is $0.35 each, against $0.42 on ProfileBakery's AI Pro.
- 4 shots per style. Each style gives you a smile at the camera, a candid laugh, a wider scene and a close-up.
- Light input. 4 selfies rather than 8 to 20.

Working out real value
Price per image only matters for the images you keep. A dating profile needs four to six good, varied photos; Bumble says four or more get the most matches. So the useful question is how much it costs to get six you are happy to post.
- Illustrative example, job hunter who also dates: ProfileBakery Regular at $29.90 gives 60 images across 12 outfits and 20 backgrounds, an editor and career templates. If the free preview looks like you, this is efficient.
- Illustrative example, dating only: TrueLook's Fix Pack at $29 covers up to 30 photos, about 7 styles of 4 shots each, with no career extras in the price. Build six, picking each style yourself; it is a single payment, so there is nothing to cancel afterwards.
- Illustrative example, cautious buyer: start with ProfileBakery's free preview. If the likeness is not right, you have lost nothing, and a dating specialist is the next step.
TrueLook's per-photo figures use each pack's maximum. One credit is one photo, and each style you pick makes 4.
Who should choose which

| Only need dating photos | TrueLook | Every style made for Tinder, Hinge and Bumble |
| Worried about photos not looking like you | TrueLook | Face kept exactly the same; refund route under its conditions |

| Want to choose every style yourself, photo by photo | TrueLook | You generate one photo at a time instead of one fixed batch |
| Want several different shots of each scene | TrueLook | Each style makes 4 shots, from a laugh to a close-up |

Scenarios
Illustrative example: a 26-year-old graduate in Germany. She needs an application photo and wants a fresher Bumble profile. ProfileBakery's Regular package gives her a CV photo, LinkedIn backgrounds and a few casual portraits in one purchase, with EU data storage.
Illustrative example: a 47-year-old divorced father. His only recent photos are from his kids' birthdays, and he is not job hunting. He wants a café photo, a walk outdoors, an evening out and a clear smiling lead photo. TrueLook covers that without paying for career tools.
Illustrative example: someone who tried the free preview and did not recognise himself. He stops there, which is exactly what the preview is for, and tries a tool whose method is built around keeping his face unchanged.

Using both
- Start with ProfileBakery's free preview if you also need career photos. It costs nothing and tells you whether its engine captures your face.
- Use ProfileBakery for the CV and LinkedIn photo, where its outfits and backgrounds fit best.
- Use TrueLook for the dating set: a smiling lead photo, a full-length shot, an activity, an evening out and a travel or outdoor scene. Our guide to the best dating profile photos for men and our dating profile pictures guide explain the order.
- Keep formal photos out of slot one on your dating profile.
- Verify again after changing photos on Hinge or Tinder; see what to do if Tinder photo verification fails.
For broader context, our roundup of AI dating photo generators compares dating-first tools, and two other headshot-first products are covered on TrueLook vs Aragon AI and TrueLook vs HeadshotPro.
The bottom line
ProfileBakery is a capable, low-cost all-rounder with a genuinely useful free preview, a thoughtful dating page and a clear no-training privacy policy. Its refund policy is strict, so use the preview before paying. If you want one purchase for career and dating photos, it is a good option. If dating is the whole point and likeness is your biggest worry, TrueLook is built for exactly that.
